Schlafly “Tasmanian IPA”

92 A-

This seasonal IPA is brewed exclusively with Australian hops (Galaxy), hence “Tasmanian.” It opens up with a bitter burst of grapefruit and ripe oranges over a lightly toasted pale malt sweetened with toffee. Abundant fruity notes merge delicately with a floral hop finish. Juicy citric sourness balances nicely with honey sweetness to support. Red grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed tangerine, passion fruit, pineapple, mangoes, and apricots round out this hop variety, which is quite a feat for one single hop! The feel is so incredibly fresh and clean all the way through, with a creamy finish. Moderate bitterness allows for a full spectrum of hop flavor.

Yet another great beer from Schlafly. These guys know how to brew a solid IPA. It’s always great to have an isolated hop IPA in order to appreciate the individual subtleties of a particular hop strain. Galaxy shines with fresh flavor and clarity. This beer’s simplicity is its charm. The quick decay in bitterness paired with killer hop flavor makes for a highly sessionable IPA. Recommended.
